Evolution of accredited transferrable skills for Venice High School students: The Venice community has an boilerplate age of 69 years and a big gap in educated, working young professionals. Noting this absence, the Institute created its Apprenticeship and Internship programs to not only inspire and stimulate students beyond the standard classroom environment, but to plant a workforce of well-trained millennials with career-ready skills also. Co-ordinate to a 2018 study washed by WalletHub, the state of Florida is the tenth worst state in the land in terms of millennial economic opportunity, and Sarasota County is no exception. With this programme, VIPA is shaping the hereafter evolution of our community by investing in one of Southward West Florida's most invaluable avails: its students. Nosotros are advancing this plan by working in conjunction with the Sarasota County School Commune and Venice High School Administration and Kinesthesia to provide certification credential opportunities.

Apprenticeship Plan

During our 2016-2017 flavor, we launched our Apprenticeship Plan- a unique feel for Venice High Schoolhouse juniors and seniors who are paid for their time. Apprentices work hands-on with industry professionals in all areas of the performing arts from lighting and sound to house management and patron relations. Students larn valuable life skills nigh responsibility, time management, collaboration, and teamwork, that are non only applicative in the performing arts, but in whatsoever field the students choose to follow upon graduation. Through his apprenticeship with VIPA, one 2017 Venice High School Graduate obtained an electrics apprenticeship for "The Elaborate Entrance of Republic of chad Deity" at the Asolo Repertory Theatre in Sarasota and joined the local stagehands wedlock final autumn. A second apprentice found a passion for stage management enrolled at the University of Central Florida working on his Available of Fine Arts degree in Stage Management. In an open alphabetic character to VIPA he wrote, "By continuing with theatre, more specifically Phase Management, I aim to inspire immature minds like my ain that didn't know where to plow in a fourth dimension of need and to continue to inspire myself past bringing productions with cracking learning to life. Thanks so very much for restoring my passion, helping brand college decisions, and much more."  11 Students graduated from the apprenticeship program in the leap of 2018.  One student from this graduating class is working on joining the stagehands union, and another has a task every bit the audio engineer for a well known local band.

Charting touch

4 powerful questions that require reflection well-nigh what really matters - results.

Our objective is to promote the performing arts and bring culture to Venice and the surrounding areas while mentoring students through our educational programs. The Plant works closely with students throughout the county to encourage interest inside the world of the performing arts, every bit well every bit the community. The number ane goal of these educational opportunities is to provide students with career-set up skills upon graduation and help to back up a vocational workforce. The Institute presents a serial of diverse and electrifying performances each season that appeals to a broad variety of demographics. Our work is virtually bringing the unlike cultures and traditions from across the globe right here to our community, to not only entertain our patrons simply to describe new audience members to the area and brand the Arts Live in Venice.

As a developing nonprofit entering its fifth year, nosotros are extremely aware of our fiscal responsibility to our stakeholders - including the Sarasota Canton Schoolhouse Board, the City of Venice, three local performing arts nonprofits that rely on our services, staff members, volunteers, donors, and students. The Covid-19 pandemic necessitated the closure of our performing arts center as a public space thereby near eliminating our main source of income. We accept developed a detailed financial plan to go on the arrangement feasible and ready to resume public activities when public health officials deem information technology safety. We accept maintained close contact with artists, agents, and managers throughout the pandemic closure period to clinch that nosotros can swiftly resume productions.

For the 2016 and 2017 seasons, the Plant experienced a 25% growth in ticket sales, and a 152% growth in the 2018 fiscal twelvemonth. We experienced approximately 20% growth for ticket sales in our 2018-2019 season. Our showtime three years required significant fiscal inputs from our founders and other donors to support our growth. Our expectation was achieving fiscal sustainability in our 2019-2020 season when Covid-nineteen brought our production schedule to a complete halt. We raised an boosted $100,000 from our founders and donors to support the organisation's bones operating adequacy and to go on us prepared to resume operations when public wellness officials deemed it condom. Nosotros accept contracted for over 20 productions in the 2021-2022 season as a result and have resumed our Apprentice and Intern programs. We are rebuilding our management staff and moving forward again.

We accept onboarded boosted management staff and have contracted for over 18 events for the 2021-2022 season.
